Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from the Buskirks!
Our holiday was full of wrapping paper, tissue, good food, family, and colds. We are recovering nicely.

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have a blessed New Year.

Road Trip

Justin, Haley, and I packed up the vehicle and set out on a Thansgiving road trip to Nebraska. We set out Friday afternoon around 2:00 and made it to Nebraska early Saturday morning without stopping for sleep. Let's just say everything ran smoothly excluding one major blow out...from Haley. She was such a trooper and handled the trip much better than I could have imagined. We had a DVD player which she loved. I am not big on her watching tv but it was a real life saver.
We spent the whole week in Nebraska just hanging out and spending time with family. I wish Haley could be around her Nebraska cousins more since she had such a wonderful time playing with them (actually she just sat a stared mostly). Haley got to celebrate her first round of Christmas gifts. She got a interactive house from her Grandma and Grandpa that I really loved. She really loved the wrapping paper! Justin went on two of the best pheasant hunting trips of his life. I think over the course of the week they got over 30 pheasant. I even got a chance to pick out several new quilt projects which I hope to start soon. When Saturday rolled around my husband some how convinced me to pack up again (a more full vehicle this time around) and attempt the 20 hour road trip again without an overnight stop. Around 2:00 am we were both rethinking our choice but somehow found the strength to push through. We arrived back in Houston Sunday morning with non-alcohol induced hangovers. I was recovering for an entire week. It is always nice to be home but sad to know it will be several months till we see our Nebraska family again.

Happy Halloween from the Buskirks

Justin and I threw our first annual Buskirk's Halloween Bash this past Saturday. We decided at the last minute to have it so I spent Friday evening and Saturday running around like a zombie trying to scavage Halloween decor and scary snacks. In the end the party was quite a success...every single attendee dressed up and we partied late into the night.
Thanks everyone for coming and we hope to see you all again next year...and maybe a few newbies too!

Crawling!!

After a small speed bump Haley is off and crawling. She was primed and ready to start almost a three weeks ago but she got the "flu" and couldn't bring herself to move. After fever for a week, several trips to the doctor, and many days off of work Haley was cured and her little limbs just couldn't hold back any more...she crawled. We still have a few plugs to cover and cabinet doors to latch but our home is now a crawl happy zone!

Splish Splash

I think bath time is so hilarious now that Haley has hair for me to spike. It is amazing what entertains me in life now that I am a mommy.

Pretty in Pink...and Green

This was taken on our first trip to Granny and Poppy's new house in Geronimo. The weather was a little yucky so we spent most of the time indoors just driving each other crazy. Hehe.

I am not sure what is it about my sister and I but apparently we like to dress a like...and now dress our children alike. For those nay sayers out there I promise we did not plan it.

Just Because

I can hardly believe it has been an entire month since I posted.

Here are some new pics of Haley. She is growing so fast!
Go Aggies!
Like mother like daughter...check out the butt crack! Hahaha.

Go Cornhuskers!!

In order to help Justin celebrate the first televised Nebraska football game of the season....
...Haley got all decked out. Unfortunately the Cornhuskers lost in the last seconds of the game. Hopefully we will bring more luck next weekend!
PS...I hope no one from Nebraska assumes in any way that the battle for what college Haley will attend has been decided...Just wait till the first Aggie game.

Happy Birthday Mommy

I hate to put this in writing but what the heck...I turned 28 last week! I celebrated the end of my mid-twenties with dinner and a cookie cake...and a few margaritas. It seems the years are passing so much quicker than they used to - I am going to be thirty in just two years! (sob sob sob). For what it is worth I still feel young. I don't feel like I am old enough to have a baby or be married or have bills or own a home or even a car for that matter. Having said that I wouldn't change one bit of it!
27 was one of the best years of my life and I can't wait to see what 28 has in store for me!

Jumperoo: Action Shots

It is so much fun watching Haley grow from a little newborn blob into the cute-as-can-be baby who smiles and plays constantly. Right now she is totally into her Jumperoo. She just jumps and jumps and jumps some more. Every now and then she will take a breather and play with some of the little attached activities but they are an after thought to the jumping.

A Visit with Grandma & Grandpa

To celebrate Haley's 1/2 year birthday her grandparents from Nebraska came down for a visit. They hadn't seen Haley since she was just 3 weeks old so it was a real treat for her to have them around. We spent most of the visit just sitting around the house playing with Haley and visiting. We did take a a few short jaunts around the area...to the beach one day and then Justin's softball games on Sunday (surprisingly they won them both-we must be lucky charms!!) Thanks Sonya and Dean for making the trip! We always love having ya'll!

Upgrades

Haley can now mark sitting off her to-do list. Way to go stinkerrella!

With the beginning of this new chapter in her life we decided it was time to pack up the bouncer and swing and upgraded her to a jumperoo (watch for videos to come)! She loves it. There are all sorts of fun activities for her to play with up top and then she gets to kick and jump with her legs. She is still a little timid with the jumping but I am sure she will have that contraption soaring in no time! Also with the sitting status comes an upgrade to her food selections. In addition to her standards like peas and squash she can now have delicious things such as peach cobbler and apples-n-cherries! What a happy little girl she will be with all these new choices!

Fishing

Justin went fishing this past weekend with his buddy Matthew. The trip was very successful! They caught a whole mess of keepers and from the way Justin explains it it may have been his best trip yet. They fished till almost 3:30 in the morning with the fish biting almost constantly. I am so glad that he finally got to have his "storybook" fishing trip. Hehe.

As for Haley and I, we stuck around Pearland and did a little fishing of our own! Check out the photos I took of her first catch!! Apparently she was very hungry.

Solid Foods: Green Beans, Squash, Sweet Potatoes...Oh My!

So we have successfully completed all the vegetables without any food aversions. Aside from not liking some of the textures (seriously who wouldn't) Haley has mastered them all. Here are some shots from dinner time. I am loving the close up pictures as they really capture the grossness that is feeding a baby!

Solid Foods: Peas Please!!

After deciding that Haley had mastered rice cereal it was time to move on to more advanced food. I had dreams of being like my dear friend Jill and making all Haley's baby food but then I decided that I barely liked my own cooking let alone if it was mushed into a smooth sauce. In the end I succumbed to the mass produced Gerber brand. So far Haley has been loving it. I can't wait to see how she likes sweet fruits...for now we are sticking to veggies like her father's favorite...the green pea!
