The Daycare Blues

Haley is sick! I refuse to take the blame myself so instead I will push it off onto those kids at daycare. Not even a week after her first day and she already had the symptoms of her first cold. Last Thursday she woke up pretty congested and had a small cough throughout the day. We decided after much discussion that her symptoms did not require a trip to the doctor since she seemed to be her normal happy self and was not running any fever whatsoever. Instead I made a trip to the local baby store and bought all the required gadgets for Haley’s first baby cold…nose saline, booger sucker thingie, humidifier, etc. I was so proud of myself that I had stayed calm and acted rationally until this morning when I woke up to her coughing again. This time it sounded much more congested and at one point I even think she spit up a little loogie (not sure but it made me flip out)…yet still no temperature. To make a long story short Haley went to see Dr. Wilber this morning and she is perfectly fine. All he suggested was for us to put her to sleep on an incline and keep up the saline and nose sucker. One small bonus to my freaking out was that they weighed her and she is an astounding 15 lbs!

So in a way daycare is helping her to build her immune system…or at least that is what I will tell myself!

One Fish, Two Fish

Over the Memorial Day weekend my hubby ventured out for yet another fishing trip. Justin and a coworker headed down to Galveston Bay. I was getting worried about his fishing skills but fortunately this time around they actually caught some worth keeping. Not enough for a fish fry but enough for our family dinner one night. He was very proud and transported the whole fish home so that I could see his catch. Doesn’t really mean much to me but his real prize catch was a 25 inch trout!

I wish he loved me this much! Hehe.

School Days

Monday was Haley's first day at school (if I call it school instead of daycare it makes me feel a little better). We enrolled her at a local place called Tottenberry's, just a few minutes from the house. Everyone there is really nice and very friendly. The infant classroom has 6 other babies all of which are several months older than Haley(hopefully they won't bully her too much).
First School Day!
I thought leaving her with Granny last week was hard but this was in another whole ballpark. I cried like a baby! I will have to cross my fingers and hope that all moms act like me on the first day. By the time I was finally ready to leave she seemed perfectly happy and at ease...enough so that she was able to create the first diaper change for Ms. Michelle.

Tiny Feet and Cute Faces

It is with great sadness that I create this post today since I have now officially returned to work full time. Wednesday was my first day back and it was absolutely brutal. For some one who claims to not cry very much I even put Haley to shame that morning.

So, in order to cheer myself up throughout the day I have posted some more pics of Haley. When I am home one of my favorite things to do with her...other than just hold her all day...was to watch all the expressions that come across her face. I love them all, the smile and the frown, the hungry and the satiated, the inquisitive and the pensive.

I also can't resist her tiny feet. Too cute!

Say Cheese!

With Justin out of town Haley and I had little to do on this lazy Saturday but take some pictures. We decided to try and get one really good one to send to her daddy to remind him to never leave town again. He-he. What a great decision that turned out to be cause I got one of the infamous smile. It took a lot of coaxing and a lot of goofy faces on my part but we got one and I just couldn't wait to share it with the world! Enjoy.

Zooventures

We took another adventure to the zoo this past week with Erin, the girls, and some of their friends. It was great day! The trip also gave me a chance to get some better pictures of Miles the giraffe. I feel as though he and Haley are cosmically connected some how and can't wait to take her back when she is older and explain to her that they are the same age. What a hoot that will be!
