Froberg Farms - Trip 1

We took our first field trip of the year to Froberg Farms today and it was awesome. Aside for the weather, which was a little windy and cool, the trip was great. There were strawberries everywhere and we were the only people picking. The girls had fun trying to find the biggest one and the boys watched and waited for the bounty. Jake actually tried to eat one that was almost the size of his head. Ha. All I cared about was getting back inside and treating myself to a strawberry and cream fried pie. Delicious! After picking we headed out for lunch at the Burger Barn in beautiful Manvel Texas. What a great morning with some good friends. Thanks Julie, Lily, and Trevor! We can't wait for our next "Fun Day".

As soon as this first bucket of strawberries is gone we are headed back for more!

Please excuse the first picture. I am trying to learn to shoot all my pictures in manual these days and that one was completely washed out but I used it anyway cause I thought it was cute. :)

Pancake & Pajama Party

For Haley's third birthday we threw her a pancake & pajama party. Despite the downpour outside everything inside went great. The guests all seemed to have a good time and I know without a doubt that the birthday girl had a blast...she hasn't stopped talking about it. Hopefully it is something she will remember for a long time.

Get ready because this is a long one. There are a lot of pictures intermixed with a little bragging...I am a little proud of myself because all the decorations were made by me! :)

The spread included pancakes, topping bar, fruit kabobs, careal treats, and strawberry and confetti cupcakes along with milk and oj. The adults had breakfast casserole with coffee and mimosas.

The pancake bar included syrup, strawberry syrup, blueberries, strawberries, banans, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and whipped cream

Delicious pancakes made to order by the birthday girls daddy.

Strawberry and confetti cupcakes with buttercream frosting. Yum!

Fruit loops treats. These were a big hit.

While the girls ate breakfast they watched the much talked about Peter Pan Returns..this was a special request by Haley. Apparently watching cartoons while eating is fun. :)

After breakfast the girls colored pictures of pancakes and made cereal necklaces.

Each girl had their own bag with a shoelace and fruit loops for stringing (snacking on).

This was the first year Haley was able to rip through them all on her own. It really was like a tornado...so much destruction in such a short period of time. :)

She got a lot of great gifts and has already opened and played with everything.

Little brother looking on and taking notes. Only two weeks to go little man and then it's your turn.

Time for cupcakes!

As with every year in the past Haley got really shy and embarrased when we sung the "Happy Birthday Song". She came around once the singing ended and was able to blow out the candles with a little help.

Yum. Found the cupcake after the party...the cake was still fully in tack but every last spec of icing had been licked away.

The cupcakes also went over pretty well with the little ones...big surprise there. :)

 Your next little man.

Thanks to everyone who helped put the party together and to pinterest for all the great inspiration and ideas.

Haley's Three!!

Haley turned three this weekend (sobbing).

I can't believe our little girl is getting so big. Her birthday was great. We celebrated with a pancake and pajama party in the morning and then she spent the rest of the day just opening presents and playing with everything. She had an absolute blast and is already talking about next year. 11 Months

Jake turned 11 months old and as usual I was not ready to go with his update so here it is two weeks before his first birthday. Interesting facts about Jake...

He really loves cheese. Who doesn't though. :)
He weighs about 22 lbs by my estimate.
He has 6 teeth. Four up top and two below.
He isn't walking but loves cruising around and will stand for a few seconds on his own.
He loves splashing in the bath tub.
He says Dada during every waking hour. Occasionally he throws me a bone with mama or bye bye.
He wakes up pretty consistently at 6:15!!!!! Seriously. :(
He loves balloons.
He has started yelling at Haley when she takes his toys. He is not going to let her run all over him.
His new favorite song is "Take Me Out to the Ballgame".
He loves slides and can do it on his own if I am there to catch him at the bottom.
His favorite past time is sitting in or on anything...baskets, boxes, cabinets, toys, etc. See below.

Happy 11 months little guy. We can't wait to help you celebrate your first birthday in just two weeks!!

My Handy Husband

A few weeks ago Justin and I decided to take the leap into the world of current technology. This may be hard to believe but I was the instigator of this update. I think Justin had a secret love affair going with our old projection tv and therefore didn't want to let her go. Ha. Anyway, we decided to move her out and move in a new sleek flat screen. I can't believe we didn't do it sooner. It is like a whole new world has opened up to us. We are literally seeing things clearly now. With the new addition our old media tower/cabinet just wasn't doing the trick. Insert my great idea for Justin to build us a new media console and the next day we were happily shopping at Home Depot for all the required items. The way I decided what Justin was going to build...simply searching through the Pottery Barn magazine! Here is their version...
Andover Media Console - Weathered Walnut finish
Here is our version...
I love the way it turned out. It looks amazing. I am super impressed with Justin's mad woodworking skills and am already coming up with a list of other things for him to build for me. Unfortunately I didn't get very good pictures cause I had to use my flash but I will put up more later. Now I just need a bigger house to fit all this awesomeness in! My husband is super handy and I think I will keep him around...at least until the new Pottery Barn catalog comes out. :)
