An Aunt, an Uncle, and Cousins, oh my!

Justin's sister Shelley and her family made the trip down from Nebraska to meet Haley this past weekend. It was a great visit filled with a tons of fun activities and lots of memories.

On Friday we ventured out as a whole group to the Houston Zoo. Even Erin and the girls tagged along. It was the first trip to the zoo for Justin & I and one I am sure we will make again. We are secretly just kids inside. Our favorite exhibit was the giraffes because they have a new baby named Miles who is just 2 weeks older than Haley. It will be fun to take her back when she is older and explain to her that they are the same age. I can just picture the awe on her little face! All the cousins had a great time too. I think the hit of the day was our second trip past the elephants when they were putting on their act. They can do all sorts of tricks and even wave goodbye with their trunks. What a great day!

Then we made the trip to Surfside beach for some fun in the sun on Saturday. We had such a good time! Haley's cousins Shaylynn and Daren had never been to the beach so it was fun to watch them play in the sand and surf. We even made the trip over to a kayak launch spot so Justin could take his other new baby out for it's first run. Daren and Dustin gave it a test run too.

It is so nice to have family around and always a treat when someone from Nebraska makes the haul down. Thanks McConville's for coming to visit. I was great seeing you all and we can't wait to see you guys again soon...you are always welcome here!!

Buffalo Wild Wings

It took us several weeks to finally get comfortable enough as parents to start venturing out more with Haley but by now we are regular pros (secretly inside I am still freaking out each time). Haley's first dinner out was a couple weeks ago to Buffalo Wild Wings - one of her parents favorite places to eat. It was a good choice for her first dinner out since the loud noisy restaurant was a great soother. She slept through the entire dinner and didn't even make a peep. Maybe we should take her to dinner more often. From what my sister and other moms keep telling me we should definitely live it up these first few months because before too long she becomes a public terror!

Cold Front

Texas had somewhat of a cold spell this past week and if it weren't for gifts from Nebraska Haley and I might have been home bound for several days. Luckily we received a few long sleeve outfits that saved the day. In all my pre-Haley shopping I never bought a jacket or sweater. Hopefully I will remember to pick one of those up next time I am at Target!

Baby Crack

Haley got introduced to the pacifier this past week and it is officially her new favorite thing. I tried my hardest not to give it to her too soon but I couldn't hold out any longer. Plus it is super cute in photos! It is nice to have something to soothe her with that isn't attached to my body. Hehe.

Tradition

Haley's Grandma Soni and Grandpa Dean came to visit this past weekend. It was alot of fun to have them here and nice to have another two pairs of hands to hold Haley. Mostly we spent the weekend sitting around the house and working on little projects here and there. It was nice!

It is a Buskirk family tradition that every new addition to the family receives a circle quilt from Sonya and Dean when they are born. In Nebraska they are typically used to keep the little ones bundled up in the cold but here it will likely get turned into Haley's favorite play mat. It is absolutely adorable! She looks like such an angel laying on it. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for the lifelong treasure.

Dr. Wilber

Haley had her first appointment with her pediatrician, Dr. Wilber, this past Thursday. Everything went well and the doctor proved to be a great choice! Justin and I really liked him during the pre-birth consultation and so far he seems to be a good match for our family. He was wonderful with Haley and really good at keeping us calm.

As for the checkup itself she has already gained almost an entire pound since birth - her current weight is 9 lbs 5 oz compared to her original 8 lbs 7 oz!! I can hardly believe she is growing so fast. I guess this means that she is definitely getting enough to eat! Hehe. They also had to do another foot prick which was really hard to watch. Justin went along too so I made him do the hard work of holding her while she screamed...I couldn't have bared it. The shots in 4 weeks for all her immunizations are going to be brutal.

Our Sweet Angel

Check out our sweet little angel's first photo shoot!!

Erin has been chomping at the bit ever since Haley got here to take some pictures. After setting up a little photo studio in my living room we went at it. Haley was pretty good for the first 20 minutes or so and then she got totally disinterested in the situation and gave up. Luckily we were able to get some good ones that capture just what a sweet heart she is.

Belly Button

I am sure the milestones are not that important to everyone but this weekend Haley's belly button stump fell off....finally!! Those things are pretty disgusting. Now we just have to wait and see if it will end up an innie or an outie.

Our Daily Adventures

This is just some more pictures from our everyday adventures. While sitting on the couch watching HGTV all day long I find myself taking random pictures of cute faces she makes or sweet poses. She is such a joy!
