Look What I Made

I threw this together Wednesday night. It is an owl for those who can't see it. I should have used something other than white felt for the beak but I had to work with what I had. I found the pattern on a blog and it only took me about an hour to complete. Super cute, super easy and super fun. The fabric I got while shopping last weekend with my mom. The back is polka dot minky which is unbelievably soft. Haley loves it. She is constantly rubbing the back and yanking on the button eyes.

Side note: Last weekend my mom was introduced to my ridiculous anxiety about buying fabric. It takes me forever to settle on things. Not sure if it is the lack of my decisiveness or the amount of beautiful fabrics available. My MIL and SIL can definitely vouch for the craziness. It is like pulling teeth each time they have to help me pick out fabric. Are there others like me?

"Custom"

***Forgot I had this post already in the works from before the chaos started.***

I have been working on for my cousin and his wife. They asked me to help them out with some "custom" curtains for their little man's room. I was glad to help. Check out the finished product.
There really wasn't much work for me. I just cut a pre-made quilt in half long ways, bound the rough edge, and added some loops for a curtain rod. I think they turned out pretty cute and should look perfect paired up with the rest of the room's decor.

Ta-da

Check out what I made! Remember the fabric I posted yesterday? Well this was the perfect project for it. What do you guys think?
It was originally going to be a new school bag for Haley however it ended up being way too big...so it is now a new craft bag. I love it and have already started planning all the variations I can make. Anyone need a new bag?

In the Works

This fabric is a little more contemporary than I am typically drawn to however I had just the project for it.
Stay tuned for completed project photos...which I am quite pleased with (toot-toot).

Made By Me: Zoo Animals

I made these zoo animal blocks for Haley last week. They were super easy to throw together and now that I know the possibilities are endless. She loves stacking them, knocking them down, and banging them together. I love trying to teach her zoo animals even though she isn't even slightly interested in learning. Plus my husband always chimes in and makes the best elephant noise ever. Makes me cry laughing almost every time.

Weekend Thrifting

I snagged these two pitchers from the Salvation Army a few weekends ago on a shopping trip with my sister sidekick. Not entirely sure why but I have had a strong desire lately to buy old, used items and make them new (to me). It is fun to take someone else's cast away and turn them into something spectacular for my home.

The larger black pitcher originally had some colorful Spanish artwork on it that I had to sand off. You can see in the second picture how scuffed up the pitcher got from the sand paper.
After the pitchers were washed and dried I painted them with a coat of primer and a top coat of heirloom white. I think they turned out pretty nice and they cost me just over $10 for both. Yea for thrifty decorating. Now I just need to find some flowers for them.

Homemade

I am currently all about homemade gifts. I love the way it feels to give someone something I made with my own two hands and to see their excitement (hopefully). In the beginning I thought it was also going to be a great way to conserve money however craft supplies have become somewhat of an addiction for me. I can't stop...I have boxes and bags and drawers full of stuff: fabric, glitter, socks, buttons, glue, paint, clothespins, tulle, wood, paper, etc, etc, etc. I have become a craft supply hoarder!!! Help! I am calling all of my friends and family to have birthdays, get married, have a baby, graduate, buy a new home, anything to help me deplinish my stock. HELP ME!

Thanks to a baby cousin on the way I was able to make a dent in my stash last week. I made a sock monster (who lended up looking a lot like a rabbit), a taggie blanket, and some blocks that spelled out the new baby name.
I think they all turned out pretty cute and looked even better incorporated into the diaper cake that my sister and I collaborated on. She provided the adorable burp cloths, the personalized wipe case, and the little baseball cap.
I think the parents to be were quite pleased. Perhaps not so much for the homemade gifts as for the 100 diapers that they now have to unroll. Ha.
